The Institute for Development Cooperation, ICEP, was founded in 1996 as a private, independent initiative based in Austria to effectively contribute to global poverty-alleviation. ICEP designs and implements educational and training projects in developing countries in cooperation with local partners in East Africa, Central America and Central Asia. Moreover, ICEP contributes to more public awareness in Europe about the concerns of development countries.
Objectives
As a nongovernmental organization (NGO) ICEP works for international development cooperation and supports education focused development projects in order to sustainably improve living conditions of people in development countries.
ICEP promotes projects where people can express and put their abilities to work, take responsibility and become an active part in their own development.

Strategy
ICEP bases its work on reliable and competent local partners.
These partners are carefully selected and remain in continuous personal contact with ICEP.
Together with their partners ICEP examines and designs the projects and assists funding by applying for funds with OEZA or the European Commission and also by contributing capital resources. The local partners implement the projects and maintain sustainability. ICEP is in charge of project-monitoring and control of capital spending.
Management of donations
ICEP guarantee their sponsors, that donations go directly and with maximum Value to tangible projects. Thanks to gratitous work of many people ICEP can guarantee that 6 percent of all donations are used for administration cost at the most.
Business Angel
In early 2009 ICEP started the project “WorldWideWomen”, which is designed to bring education and training to women in remote areas in developing countries through so-called “Multipliers”. This program is the foundation for a global empowerment program.
For ICEP empowerment means to enable people in development countries to live a life based on their own income and thus participate in social and economic processes.
The people, especially women and young people, are supported to generate their own income by starting their own small business, e.g. breeding chicken, tailoring or selling bread.
One element in the education and training program is a “Business Angel”, i.e. a person who serves the new entrepreneur as support system for a longer period of time and helps with any problems or questions.
This also includes cost calculation, marketing and bookkeeping. In cooperation with a business-trainer an individual business-plan is laid out that shows the most important steps realistically and comprehensively. The personal Business Angel supports the new entrepreneur for at least 3 months.
